ABS awards Deltamarin and CMHI AiP for versatile FPSO hull
Turku, Finland-headquartered Deltamarin and China Merchants Heavy Industry (CMHI) have received Approval in Principle (AiP) from classification society ABS for a new versatile Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) hull design.
The AiP certificate was awarded on December 3, 2025, at the Marintec China event in Shanghai.
The AiP confirms the feasibility of a robust, fatigue-friendly FPSO hull optimized for multiple field locations, including deepwater operations west of Africa, with a length of 285 meters, crude oil storage capacity of 1.5 million barrels, and a topside capacity of 25,000 tonnes
In collaboration with CMHI, Deltamarin also developed two additional hull variants with 1.0 million barrels and 2.0 million barrels capacities using parametric modeling, enabling rapid adaptation to varying operational conditions while preserving structural efficiency and reliability.
