Fincantieri’s e-phors tapped to boost the cyber resilience of Italian Navy vessels

Fincantieri Group reports that Fincantieri NexTech subsidiary e-phors has signed a new contract with the Italian Navy covering the enhancement of the cyber resilience of naval units. The contract provides for the adoption of a specific program aimed at equipping vessels with an integrated solution for monitoring and countering cyber threats on the onboard SMS (ship management system) network, strengthening the protection of platforms and the security of missions.

The technology developed by e-phors is specifically designed for the digital ecosystem of defense vessels and enables crews to have advanced tools to support tactical decision-making in the event of a cyber crisis. The integration of these systems marks an additional line of defense, which is fundamental in an increasingly pervasive hybrid warfare context. It is part of the cyber strengthening process already initiated by the Italian Navy in its Bergamini-class frigates.

“The contracts we are announcing today consolidate Fincantieri’s role as a strategic partner of the Italian Navy in the field of cyber security and confirm the group’s leadership in the cyber protection of naval platforms,” said Pierroberto Folgiero, CEO and managing director of Fincantieri. “Our ongoing commitment to innovation and digital security allows us to provide advanced, cutting-edge solutions on the international scene, ensuring the highest standards of protection and reliability for navy units in response to the challenges of today and tomorrow.”
