Russian Navy Warship Conducts Artillery Drills In The Sea Of Japan

A Russian Navy warship carried out artillery firing drills in the Sea of Japan, also called the East Sea, as part of planned combat training, Russian news agency Interfax reported on February 17, 2025.

According to reports, the large landing ship Admiral Nevelskoy participated in the exercises, focusing on testing air defence for a single vessel.

The crew fired artillery at a simulated aerial target as part of the drill.

Additionally, large-calibre machine guns were used to target small, manoeuvrable objects representing unmanned enemy boats.

It was designed to test the warship’s ability to defend against fast-moving threats on the water.

These drills were part of the planned combat training activities of the Russian Pacific Fleet, aimed at enhancing the operational readiness of the fleet.

The press service of the Pacific Fleet explained that the exercises were carried out in accordance with their training schedule.

The exercises took place in a region that has seen increased military activity, with naval forces from various countries conducting operations.

In a separate incident, Russian vessels transporting ammunition from Syria, following the ousting of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad were tracked by the Royal Navy while they transited through the English Channel.
