Disney Cruise Line celebrated the launch of its newest ship, the Disney Treasure, with a christening event in New York City on Tuesday evening. The event on the Hudson River featured a breathtaking light show and performances that captured the magic of Disney stories.

The night was dazzling, with 1,000 drones lighting up the sky, creating scenes from Disney classics like Aladdin, Moana, Coco, and Haunted Mansion.

The drones danced to a mix of famous Disney songs, creating a magical experience. Jordin Sparks also performed “Live the Adventure,” the original anthem of the Disney Treasure.

Bob Iger, CEO of The Walt Disney Company, spoke about Disney’s long history of storytelling and how Disney Cruise Line helps bring that magic to people all around the world. He also honoured Disney employees as the official godparents of the new ship.

The celebration ended with a grand finale, where the drones formed a giant champagne bottle and lit up the sky with fireworks. Disney employees and leaders then offered a traditional blessing for the ship’s journey.

Josh D’Amaro, Chairman of Disney Experiences, shared that this launch is part of Disney’s plan to grow its cruise fleet and add more ships over the next few years.

The Disney Treasure will feature fun experiences for the whole family, with shows, themed dining, and a new water attraction starring Mickey Mouse. There will also be special adult-only lounges inspired by Disney Parks, including one based on the Haunted Mansion.

The Disney Treasure will begin its maiden voyage on December 21, 2024, offering seven-night cruises from Port Canaveral, Florida, to the Caribbean. It is the first of many new ships Disney plans to launch in the coming years.
