{"id":10666,"date":"2025-06-02T20:02:46","date_gmt":"2025-06-02T20:02:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/krogragg.com\/?p=10666"},"modified":"2025-06-02T20:02:46","modified_gmt":"2025-06-02T20:02:46","slug":"berg-propulsion-package-optimizes-feeder-ship-duo-to-run-on-bio-methanol","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/krogragg.com\/?p=10666","title":{"rendered":"Berg Propulsion package optimizes feeder ship duo to run on bio-methanol"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>    Berg Propulsion package optimizes feeder ship duo to run on bio-methanol<br \/>\n \t<BR><br \/>\n<BR><\/BR><br \/>\n    <!-- no image --><br \/>\n \t<BR><br \/>\n<BR><\/BR><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>NCL <em><a href=\"http:\/\/ncl%20nordland,%20the%20second%20of%20two%201,300%20teu%20dual%20fuel%20container%20vessels%20owned%20by%20mpc%20container%20ships\/\">Nordland,<\/a><\/em> the second of two 1,300 TEU dual fuel container vessels owned by MPC Container Shipshas entered service just weeks after sistership <em>Vestland.<\/em> Both  feature a Berg propulsion package and can be operated on methanol and\/or MGO, and are on a 15-year charter to North Sea Container Line in services connecting Norway and Rotterdam.<\/p>\n<p>Experience with the Vestland has verified that the vessels\u2019 Berg Propulsion package optimizes efficiency regardless of energy source.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>Nordland <\/em>and <em>Vestland <\/em>establish MPCC as an early mover in competitive green fuel strategies to deliver long-term shareholder value for shipping\u2019s low carbon future,\u201d said Constantin Baack, CEO of MPCC. \u201cThe project also shows how we meet ambitious goals by working with like-minded partners.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to Berg, space efficiency and the high-performance propulsion systems built into these ships cuts energy consumption per TEU by 63% per nautical mile compared to their predecessors.
