H\u00f6egh Autoliners last week named its fifth Aurora Class vessel <em>H\u00f6egh Sunrise<\/em> in a ceremony at Omaezaki Port in Shizuoka, Japan.<\/p>\n<p>With a capacity of up to 9,100 cars, and featuring reinforced decks and enhanced internal ramp systems, these vessels can carry electric vehicles on all 14 decks.<\/p>\n<p>On her journey to Japan from China Merchants Heavy Industry\u2019s (CMHI) Jiangsu yard, which is building all the Aurora Class vessels, the <em>H\u00f6egh Sunrise<\/em> bunkered LNG fuel in Shanghai. Already today ,H\u00f6egh Autoliners says, she and the other commercially active Aurora Class vessels are reducing carbon emissions by 58% per transported car compared to the current industry average.<\/p>\n<p>The company\u2019s goal is to achieve zero-emission operations by 2040.<\/p>\n<p>With a capacity of up to 9,100 cars, and featuring reinforced decks and enhanced internal ramp systems, these vessels can carry electric vehicles on all it\u2019s 14 decks.<\/p>\n<p>All Aurora Class vessels are certified with DNV\u2019s \u201cammonia ready\u201d and \u201cmethanol ready\u201d notations \u2013 making them the first in the PCTC segment capable of operating on carbon-neutral ammonia with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marinelog.com\/technology\/man-me-lgia-ammonia-engine-passes-another-milestone\/\">main engine designed by MAN Energy Solutions<\/a> and the bridge system supplied by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kongsberg.com\/maritime\/\">Kongsberg Maritime<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe naming of our fifth vessel, <em>H\u00f6egh Sunris<\/em>e, marks a significant milestone for us and highlights the strength of the maritime cluster we work closely with on a daily basis,\u201d said H\u00f6egh Autoliners CEO, Andreas Enger. \u201cWith H\u00f6egh Sunrise and the Aurora Class newbuilding program, we are leading the way in addressing emissions in a hard-to-abate sector. We are setting new standards for sustainable deep-sea transportation and taking a major step toward our 2040 zero-emissions goal.
