Andy Beshear announced another $5.7 million Team Kentucky investment in 15 public riverport projects to enhance industry and support future expansion of the state\u2019s waterways economy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis investment is about more than replacing outdated equipment, paving roads and upgrading<br \/>ports,\u201d said Beshear. \u201cIt\u2019s about driving industry growth, creating good-paying jobs and keeping<br \/>Kentucky\u2019s transportation network ahead of the curve.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>At the beginning of 2024, the Kentucky General Assembly allocated\u2014and Gov. Beshear approved\u2014$15 million for the next two years for the newly created Kentucky Public Riverport Construction and<br \/>Maintenance (KPRCM) grant. The Kentucky Riverport Improvement (KRI) program provides additional<br \/>grant support.<\/p>\n<p>In the latest round of funding, projects were reviewed by the Water Transportation Advisory Board,<br \/>which recommended the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) approve $5,175,801 for 10 KPRCM<br \/>projects and $500,000 for five KRI projects.<\/p>\n<p>The investment will provide funds to maintain current operations and improve current facilities and<br \/>infrastructure, including conveyor replacements, dock upgrades, forklift and yard truck purchases,<br \/>barge cell revitalization, paving and more. <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/transportation.ky.gov\/NewsRoom\/2024%20New%20Riverport%20Funding.pdf\">In August 2024, Beshear announced that eight KPRCM projects and eight KRI projects<\/a> were<br \/>approved for the state\u2019s riverports.
