This vessel, described in news reports as a 50-foot sportfisherman, crashed into the USS <em>Midway<\/em> Museum in San Diego on Friday, then fled the scene before being apprehended by the local harbor police.<\/p>\n<p>Police then arrested the boat\u2019s captain on suspicion of boating under the influence. While some news reports stated the crash caused $100,00 in damage, others reported no significant damage to the historic ship.<\/p>\n<p>Boating under the influence is a serious issue, with a Coast Guard report from 2020 stating that alcohol contributed to 296 reported boating accidents.
