{"id":13986,"date":"2025-07-28T20:02:55","date_gmt":"2025-07-28T20:02:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/krogragg.com\/?p=13986"},"modified":"2025-07-28T20:02:55","modified_gmt":"2025-07-28T20:02:55","slug":"uscg-arctic-district-responds-to-chinese-research-vessel-xue-long-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/krogragg.com\/?p=13986","title":{"rendered":"USCG Arctic District responds to Chinese research vessel Xue Long 2"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>    USCG Arctic District responds to Chinese research vessel Xue Long 2<br \/>\n \t<BR><br \/>\n<BR><\/BR><br \/>\n    <!-- no image --><br \/>\n \t<BR><br \/>\n<BR><\/BR><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>The U.S. Coast Guard reports that this past Friday it detected and responded to the China-flagged research ship <em>Xue Long 2<\/em> on the U.S. Extended Continental Shelf (ECS) in the U.S. Arctic, approximately 290 nautical miles north of Utqiagvik, Alaska=.<\/p>\n<p>A Coast Guard C-130J Hercules fixed wing aircraft from Air Station Kodiak responded to the <em>Xue Long 2,<\/em> an i<a href=\"https:\/\/www.marinelog.com\/technology\/macgregor-deck-handling-solution-supports-chinese-icebreaker-operation\/\">cebreaker operated by the Polar Research Institute of China a<\/a>nd 130 nautical miles inside the ECS boundary.<\/p>\n<p>The U.S. has exclusive rights to conserve and manage the living and non-living resources of its ECS.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe U.S. Coast Guard, alongside partners and other agencies, vigilantly monitors and responds to foreign government vessel activity in and near U.S. waters to secure territorial integrity and defend sovereign interests against malign state activity,\u201d said Rear Adm.
