South African Woman Stabbed Multiple Times On World\u2019s Largest Cruise Ship

A 28-year-old South African Woman was stabbed several times onboard the Icon of the Seas, the largest cruise ship in the world, during an attack by a fellow South African crew member while the ship sailed through the Bahamas, the previous week.<\/p>\n

The Royal Bahamas Police confirmed that the assault happened at 7:30 pm on Thursday.<\/p>\n

The 35-year-old man stabbed the woman\u2019s upper body during what authorities said was a personal dispute. He then attempted to flee by jumping overboard.<\/p>\n

Emergency code \u2018Oscar, Oscar, Oscar\u2019, used to indicate a person overboard, was broadcast, prompting an immediate search and rescue response.<\/p>\n

The man was then recovered from the waters but was unresponsive and declared dead by medical staff onboard.<\/p>\n

The victim is now reported to be stable.<\/p>\n

This happened while the cruise ship was coming to Miami after port calls in St. Maarten, the U.S Virgin Islands and the Bahamas.<\/p>\n

The ship had left from Miami on July 19, 2025.<\/p>\n

South Africa\u2019s Department of International Relations and Co-operation (Dirco) said that the investigation is ongoing and declined to comment further.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
