Hence, all its cargo booms, propeller, steam anchor, and radar mast were removed for preservation.<\/p>\n<p>The second funnel will also be removed in the coming days.<\/p>\n<p>Even windows from portholes, other fittings on the interior and exterior and the promenade deck were removed, including deck covering.<\/p>\n<p>The team will also begin working on the hull to remove the loose paint.<\/p>\n<p>No timeline has been given, but there are plans to complete the reefing by 2025 end.<\/p>\n<p>The Conservancy is moving forward with the plan to create the future SS United States Museum and Visitor Experience.<\/p>\n<p>Several groups have tried to block the hull\u2019s reefing and were trying to prevent the removal of the structural elements, arguing the ship is on the U.S National Register of Historic Places.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p> \t<BR><br \/>\n <BR><\/BR><br \/>\n    MI News Network<br \/>\n \t<BR><br \/>\n<BR><\/BR><br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.marineinsight.com\/shipping-news\/forward-funnel-of-ss-united-states-removed-as-it-prepares-to-become-a-reef\/?utm_source=rss&#038;utm_medium=rss&#038;utm_campaign=forward-funnel-of-ss-united-states-removed-as-it-prepares-to-become-a-reef\">Go to marine insight<\/a><br \/>\n \t<BR><br \/>\n <BR><\/BR><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Forward Funnel Of SS United States Removed As It Prepares To Become A Reef Image for representation purposes only.
