{"id":15761,"date":"2025-08-27T20:04:18","date_gmt":"2025-08-27T20:04:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/krogragg.com\/?p=15761"},"modified":"2025-08-27T20:04:18","modified_gmt":"2025-08-27T20:04:18","slug":"conrad-shipyard-delivers-new-hybrid-electric-ferry-harbor-charger","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/krogragg.com\/?p=15761","title":{"rendered":"Conrad Shipyard delivers new hybrid-electric ferry Harbor Charger"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>    Conrad Shipyard delivers new hybrid-electric ferry Harbor Charger<br \/>\n \t<BR><br \/>\n<BR><\/BR><br \/>\n    <!-- no image --><br \/>\n \t<BR><br \/>\n<BR><\/BR><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Conrad Shipyard has delivered the <em>Harbor Charger<\/em>, New York State\u2019s first hybrid-electric public ferry, to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.govisland.com\/about\/the-trust-for-governors-island\">The Trust for Governors Island.<\/a> Designed by Elliott Bay Design Group and built at Conrad\u2019s Morgan City, Louisiana facility, this groundbreaking 1,200-passenger vessel marks a further step forward in sustainable maritime transportation.<\/p>\n<p>Equipped with Siemens Energy\u2019s advanced hybrid propulsion technology, the <em>Harbor Charger<\/em> operates in battery-only, zero-emissions mode or hybrid diesel-assisted mode resulting in a reduction of CO2 emissions by nearly 600 tons annually.<\/p>\n<p>The ferry will replace a 1956 diesel-powered vessel, delivering faster, cleaner, and more efficient service for nearly one million visitors each year between Manhattan and Governors Island.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDelivering the <em>Harbor Charge<\/em>r to New York Harbor is a proud moment for all of us at Conrad.
