Port Everglades Ranks Among Top 20% In Global Container Port Performance

Port Everglades has been ranked among the top 20% of container ports worldwide, holding the No. 3 position in North America and the No. 1 ranking in Florida, according to the 2024 Container Port Performance Index (CPPI) released this week by the World Bank and S&P Global Market Intelligence.<\/p>\n

The port secured the No. 67 position globally, a slight change from its No. 65 rank in the previous CPPI report. The CPPI evaluates container ports on six key performance measures, including the speed with which a vessel moves to a berth, the efficiency of container handling, and the time taken for a vessel to exit the port.<\/p>\n

The 2024 CPPI report includes data from 403 ports worldwide, covering more than 175,000 vessel calls and 247 million cargo moves during the calendar year, making it one of the most detailed global assessments of port performance.<\/p>\n

Port Everglades\u2019 ranking reflects steady and consistent operational efficiency, which observers attribute to major investments in port infrastructure and logistics by both public and private sectors. A senior port official said that these improvements have contributed significantly to the port\u2019s high performance.<\/p>\n

The port\u2019s success is also credited to the collaboration of its customers, labor force, the Broward County Board of County Commissioners, and port staff, all of whom have contributed to its strong operational track record.<\/p>\n

Industry experts say that such performance is essential in the competitive global maritime sector, as faster turnaround times and efficient container handling boost trade and economic activity.<\/p>\n

The CPPI ranking further positions Port Everglades as a critical hub in international shipping and one of the leading ports in the United States.
