Lines (MOL).<\/p>\n<p>This deal concludes the company\u2019s historic shipbuilding program, which has resulted in a fleet of 128 advanced LNG carriers.<\/p>\n<p>The six QC-Max carriers will be constructed by Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding Group, a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC), in China.<\/p>\n<p>These ultra-modern vessels are designed for greater fuel efficiency, reduced emissions, and advanced technology to support the company\u2019s growing LNG export and fleet replacement requirements.<\/p>\n<p>At a ceremony held in Doha, His Excellency Mr. Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi, Minister of State for Energy Affairs and President and CEO of QatarEnergy, announced the final contracts.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1860791\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1860791\" style=\"width: 1200px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1860791\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.marineinsight.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/QatarEnergy.jpg?resize=1200%2C628&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"QatarEnergy\" width=\"1200\" height=\"628\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.marineinsight.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/QatarEnergy.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/www.marineinsight.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/QatarEnergy-300x157.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.marineinsight.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/QatarEnergy-1024x536.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.marineinsight.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/QatarEnergy-768x402.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.marineinsight.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/QatarEnergy-150x79.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1860791\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Image Credits: QatarEnergy\/X<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Senior executives from MOL, COSCO Shipping, and QatarEnergy were present at the event.<\/p>\n<p>The Minister said that the new vessels are a significant addition to QatarEnergy\u2019s LNG fleet expansion program, which is essential for meeting future production goals.<\/p>\n<p>QatarEnergy\u2019s shipbuilding program includes 104 conventional LNG carriers and 24 QC-Max vessels.<\/p>\n<p>The QC-Max ships are the largest of their kind, each capable of carrying approximately 271,000 cubic meters of LNG. These ships measure 344 meters in length and have a draft of 12 meters, allowing them to access most global ports.<\/p>\n<p>Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding had already received orders earlier this year for 18 QC-Max vessels. The program aims to support Qatar\u2019s LNG production expansion and strengthen its position as the world\u2019s leading LNG exporter.<\/p>\n<p>MOL and COSCO Shipping have a longstanding relationship with QatarEnergy.<\/p>\n<p>In 2022, the joint venture signed agreements for seven conventional LNG carriers.
