A Russian Navy anti-submarine ship caught fire in Sevastopol, Crimea, on November 3, 2025, in an incident which took place in the Sukharnaya Bay.<\/p>\n

Onlookers recorded the incident where a thick smoke could be seen rising from a moored vessel.<\/p>\n

Observers confirmed that it was a small anti-submarine ship of Project 1124-M, also called Albatros-M.<\/p>\n

The Russian Black Sea Fleet has 4 vessels of this class, the Muromets, Suzdalets, Kasimov, and Yeysk, which were constructed between 1982 and 1989.<\/p>\n

Two were relocated to the Novorossiysk naval base last year, while the others have remained in Sevastopol.<\/p>\n

It is unclear which of the vessels was involved in the fire or whether the incident was the result of an attack, a technical failure or something else.<\/p>\n

Project 1124-M ships are made for coastal anti-submarine warfare, guarding naval bases and escorting other ships.<\/p>\n

In 2018, these vessels were upgraded with RBU-6000 Smerch-2 rocket launchers capable of firing new anti-submarine munitions.<\/p>\n

The damage to one of these ships could further put pressure on Moscow\u2019s already decreased anti-submarine capacity in the Black Sea.<\/p>\n

Russian authorities have not issued any statement regarding the incident or the damage caused.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
