{"id":19725,"date":"2025-11-05T20:04:06","date_gmt":"2025-11-05T20:04:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/krogragg.com\/?p=19725"},"modified":"2025-11-05T20:04:06","modified_gmt":"2025-11-05T20:04:06","slug":"ports-of-indiana-gets-two-fema-grants-to-enhance-security-infrastructure","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/krogragg.com\/?p=19725","title":{"rendered":"Ports of Indiana gets two FEMA grants to enhance security infrastructure"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>    Ports of Indiana gets two FEMA grants to enhance security infrastructure<br \/>\n \t<BR><br \/>\n<BR><\/BR><br \/>\n    <!-- no image --><br \/>\n \t<BR><br \/>\n<BR><\/BR><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Ports of Indiana has been awarded two federal grants from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to strengthen security infrastructure and assessment capabilities at its Burns Harbor and Jeffersonville ports.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/bit.ly\/3WC0I9x\">FEMA Port Security Grant Program<\/a> provides funding to state and municipal entities to help protect critical port infrastructure from terrorism, enhance maritime domain awareness, improve port-wide maritime security risk management, and maintain or reestablish maritime security mitigation protocols that support port recovery and resiliency capabilities.<\/p>\n<p>The grants made to Ports of Indiana, totaling more than $140,000, will support critical upgrades and evaluations that advance the safety and resilience of Indiana\u2019s multimodal logistics network.<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-burns-harbor-cctv-infrastructure-upgrades\">Burns Harbor \u2013 CCTV infrastructure upgrades<\/h4>\n<p>A $115,691 federal grant will fund the procurement and installation of advanced CCTV infrastructure at the Burns Harbor port. The project includes installation of new lighting and fiber \u2013 which will enhance surveillance capabilities. Ports of Indiana will contribute a $38,564 match to complete the project.<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-jeffersonville-comprehensive-security-assessment\">Jeffersonville \u2013 Comprehensive security assessment<\/h4>\n<p>A $25,000 federal grant will support a third-party security assessment at the Jeffersonville port. The assessment will evaluate all aspects of physical and cybersecurity, identify vulnerabilities, recommend improvements, and produce a Facility Security Plan (FSP) tailored to the port\u2019s operational needs. No matching funds are required for this project.<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-proactive-security-investment\">Proactive security investment<\/h4>\n<p>\u201cThese grants reflect our ongoing commitment to proactive security investment and operational excellence across Indiana\u2019s ports,\u201d said Ports of Indiana COO <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marinelog.com\/news\/ports-of-indiana-hires-maritime-leader-parrott-as-coo\/\">David Parrott<\/a> \u201cWe\u2019re grateful for FEMA\u2019s support in helping us strengthen infrastructure and safeguard critical assets that drive economic growth.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Dan Henson, security manager at Ports of Indiana-Burns Harbor added, \u201cMaintaining and improving the highest level of security at our ports is of utmost importance, given the significance of Ports of Indiana to this state\u2019s economy.
