Russia Launches Its First Ammonia Sea Terminal To Boost Exports Amidst Western Sanctions

The first Ammonia Sea Terminal in Russia was launched at the Ust-Luga Port on Friday.<\/p>\n

The facility, designed to handle all kinds of fertilisers has a total production capacity of 14 million metric tonnes and will increase the country\u2019s exports amidst difficulties created by Western sanctions.<\/p>\n

Eurochem, a Russian fertiliser producer constructed the terminal and its launch was announced by Port Alliance, a company whose owners are not disclosed.<\/p>\n

Earlier, Moscow exported Ammonia via its Baltic Ports and a pipeline which linked Togliatti, a Russian city with Ukraine\u2019s Odesa Port, however access to western port facilities and the pipeline was cut off for Russian suppliers due to the imposition of sanctions.<\/p>\n

Russian Authorities state that there is a shortage of terminals in Russia for dealing with chemicals and dangerous goods, which amounts to roughly six million tonnes annually.<\/p>\n

The new facility for ammonia will hopefully help in boosting exports despite the sanctions imposed by the West, due to Russia\u2019s war against Ukraine.<\/p>\n
