The Transport General Authority (TGA) has launched the NextWave Seafarers (NWS) pilot programme in cooperation with the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and Bahri, aiming to train a new generation of maritime professionals for future roles in the global shipping industry.<\/p>\n

Running from 2025 to 2026, the initiative has enrolled 17 male and female cadets who have begun a six-month training journey combining practical experience with knowledge-building modules.<\/p>\n

Officials stated that the programme is designed to prepare participants for careers in the maritime transport sector, providing structured rotations and educational components to develop the skills needed for future leadership roles.<\/p>\n

The initiative is considered one of the key international collaborations hosted by Saudi Arabia and reflects the Kingdom\u2019s commitment to investing in human capital and supporting the long-term sustainability of global maritime transport.<\/p>\n

The programme aims to offer an integrated training environment that encourages knowledge exchange, supports industry development and helps strengthen the presence of emerging talent within this vital field.<\/p>\n

According to authorities, the initiative also aligns with Saudi Arabia\u2019s efforts to advance strategic international projects under Saudi Vision 2030. These efforts include building a modern and sustainable transport industry and reinforcing the Kingdom\u2019s position as an active global partner in the development of maritime transport.<\/p>\n
