The President of Venezuela\u2019s National Assembly said that they will form a commission to investigate the United States\u2019 deadly strikes on suspected drug trafficking boats off the Venezuelan shores and in the eastern Pacific Ocean.<\/p>\n
The congressional Body\u2019s President, Jorge Rodriguez, spoke on state television and said that the investigation would look into a report which stated that the U.S Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth ordered that everyone on one of the boats should be killed in a strike in September.<\/p>\n
A second strike was then carried out to kill the two remaining survivors.<\/p>\n
He added that Venezuela would carry out a rigorous and deep investigation, adding that the country\u2019s prosecutor\u2019s office would be involved.<\/p>\n
The U.S for months has carried out deadly strikes against suspected drug trafficking boats in the area.<\/p>\n
Maduro and his government have denied involvement in the crime and have accused the U.S of seeking regime change out of a desire to control Venezuela\u2019s oil reserves.<\/p>\n
Trump said that the airspace above and near Venezuela should be considered closed in its entirety, but gave no further details.<\/p>\n
The Venezuelan government called the remarks a \u2018colonialist threat\u2019 against its sovereignty.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
