The 336-foot level is within the project’s normal operating range.

The lock will remain closed for approximately two weeks while crews repair the gate. The Corps said it has coordinated the closure with navigation stakeholders.

The miter gate was damaged November 21, when the downbound M/V St. Bartholomew, owned by Marquette Transportation, struck the structure, forcing an immediate shutdown of the lock.

The Corps said the incident highlights the importance of the MKARNS system, which supports regional commerce, national supply-chain reliability and long-term economic resilience.
