The Ohio River terminal operator raised its storage capacity to\u00a0350,000 square feet\u00a0by leasing its fourth building within the port.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>IRRT,\u00a0a\u00a0joint\u00a0venture between Ports of Indiana and Superior\u00a0River\u00a0Terminals Indiana, is the largest general cargo operator on the Ohio River, managing seven buildings and serving\u00a02,200 acres\u00a0at two ports in Mount Vernon and Jeffersonville.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>With consistent double-digit growth since 2022,\u00a0driven by strong demand and strategic location advantages,\u00a0IRRT is now poised to serve more customers and handle increased cargo volumes with expanded facilities and enhanced multimodal capabilities.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>By late 2024, the port was nearing capacity\u00a0for steel shipments, prompting\u00a0IRRT to\u00a0lease\u00a0a\u00a0156,000-square-foot\u00a0building within the Jeffersonville port.\u00a0This facility will supplement\u00a0the existing\u00a0warehouse capacity of\u00a0195,000 square feet,\u00a0bringing the total operating footprint to just over\u00a0350,000 square feet.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIndiana River &amp; Rail\u2019s\u00a0growth reflects the strength of our partnership and the increasing demand for flexible, multimodal logistics solutions in southern Indiana,\u201d said Ports of Indiana CEO <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marinelog.com\/?s=jody+peacock\">Jody Peacock<\/a>. \u201cWe\u2019re proud to support this expansion and ensure Jeffersonville remains a vital hub for barge, rail, and truck\u00a0shipments.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>This new capacity will include opportunities for Foreign-Trade Zone\u00a0storage, heavy lift cargo, rail transload,\u00a0and support for higher volumes of barge, rail, and truck operations, backed by a skilled local workforce. The expansion positions Jeffersonville to serve a broader range of industries and cargo types, while offering the speed, reliability, and service advantages of an\u00a0agile port.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re not just adding square footage\u2014we\u2019re adding opportunity,\u201d said Jonathan Lamb, IRRT pesident. \u201cThis expansion is about meeting demand and staying ahead of the curve.\u00a0We\u2019ve\u00a0seen consistent double-digit growth since 2022, and adding new warehouse space ensures we can continue to serve our customers with speed, flexibility, and reliability.
