{"id":21997,"date":"2025-12-17T20:02:27","date_gmt":"2025-12-17T20:02:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/krogragg.com\/?p=21997"},"modified":"2025-12-17T20:02:27","modified_gmt":"2025-12-17T20:02:27","slug":"u-s-navy-accepts-delivery-of-usns-lucy-stone","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/krogragg.com\/?p=21997","title":{"rendered":"U.S. Navy accepts delivery of USNS Lucy Stone"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>    U.S. Navy accepts delivery of USNS Lucy Stone<br \/>\n \t<BR><br \/>\n<BR><\/BR><br \/>\n    <!-- no image --><br \/>\n \t<BR><br \/>\n<BR><\/BR><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>NAVSEA reports that the John Lewis-class fleet replenishment oiler USNS <em>Lucy Stone <\/em>(T-AO 209) was delivered to the Navy, Dec. 16.<\/p>\n<p>The delivery marks the official transfer of the ship from shipbuilder General Dynamics NASSCO to the Navy and follows the successful completion of sea trials to test the readiness and capability of the ship and to validate requirements.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe delivery of USNS <em>Lucy Stone<\/em> will provide our fleet with another oiler, enhancing our replenishment underway and direct fueling capabilities,\u201d said John Lighthammer, program manager, auxiliary and special mission shipbuilding at PEO Ships. \u201cThis is a significant milestone as we bring our civilian mariners an additional ship equipped with the tools to support at sea operations.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>John Lewis-class ships are operated by the Military Sealift Command and feature substantial volume for oil, dry cargo capacity, and aviation operations. T-AOs provide additional capacity to the Navy\u2019s Combat Logistics Force and are a cornerstone of the Navy\u2019s fuel delivery capability.<\/p>\n<p>General Dynamics NASSCO is also in production on the following T-AOs: USNS <em>Sojourner Truth <\/em>(T-AO 210), <em>Thurgood Marshall<\/em> (T-AO 211), <em>Ruth Bader Ginsburg<\/em> (T-AO 212), and<em> Harriet Tubman <\/em>(T-AO 213). The future USNS <em>Dolores Huerta<\/em> (T-AO 214), and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marinelog.com\/shipbuilding\/shipyards\/shipyard-news\/general-dynamics-nassco-books-1-7bn-two-ship-tao-contract\/\">most recently <em>Joshua L. Goldberg<\/em> (T-AO 215) and <em>Thomas D. Parham Jr<\/em>.
