A Liberian-flagged tanker with 28 crew members on board was left adrift in the Aegean Sea on Sunday after suffering a total power blackout, according to information released by Greek authorities.<\/p>\n

The vessel reportedly lost electrical power while sailing about 12.7 nautical miles southeast of the island of Skyros, leaving it unable to manoeuvre.<\/p>\n

Following the incident, two vessels navigating in the vicinity were already present at the location and remained nearby to assist.<\/p>\n

The Greek Coast Guard was notified of the situation and deployed four patrol vessels to the area to provide support and ensure maritime safety.<\/p>\n

Authorities indicated that the response was precautionary and focused on safeguarding the crew and nearby shipping traffic.<\/p>\n

Initial assessments suggested that weather conditions in the area were favourable at the time of the incident.<\/p>\n

Winds were reported to be blowing at up to 3 on the Beaufort scale, which was not expected to hinder assistance efforts.<\/p>\n

There were no reports of injuries to the crew or any signs of pollution following the blackout. Authorities were continuing to monitor the situation as assistance operations remained ongoing.<\/p>\n
