{"id":22714,"date":"2026-01-02T20:02:28","date_gmt":"2026-01-02T20:02:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/krogragg.com\/?p=22714"},"modified":"2026-01-02T20:02:28","modified_gmt":"2026-01-02T20:02:28","slug":"austal-australia-books-contract-for-two-more-evolved-cape-class-patrol-boats","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/krogragg.com\/?p=22714","title":{"rendered":"Austal Australia books contract for two more Evolved Cape-class patrol boats"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>    Austal Australia books contract for two more Evolved Cape-class patrol boats<br \/>\n \t<BR><br \/>\n<BR><\/BR><br \/>\n    <!-- no image --><br \/>\n \t<BR><br \/>\n<BR><\/BR><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Austal Limited (ASX:ASB) reports that Austal Ships Pty Ltd has been awarded a further contract extension for the construction of two additional Evolved Cape-class patrol boats for the Australian Border Force (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.abf.gov.au\/\">ABF)<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>This latest award, valued at over AUD 135 million brings the total number of Evolved Cape-class patrol boats contracted to Austal to 14 vessels.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOver the past five years, the Evolved Cape-class patrol boats have proven themselves as highly capable, reliable assets for Australia\u2019s border protection missions,\u201d said Austal Limited CEO Paddy Gregg. \u201cWith nine Evolved Capes already delivered and performing exceptionally with the Royal Australian Navy, and two more already under construction for the Australian Border Force, this new order further enhances Australia\u2019s maritime surveillance and response capability across Northern Australia and our vast maritime domain.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Austal delivered<a href=\"https:\/\/www.marinelog.com\/shipbuilding\/shipyards\/shipyard-news\/austal-lays-keel-for-first-cape-class-patrol-boat\/\"> eight original Cape-class patrol boats<\/a> to the Australian Border Force between 2012 and 2015. These were followed by additional orders and deliveries to the Royal Australian Navy (two vessels) in 2017 and Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard (two vessels) in 2021.<\/p>\n<p>Since 2020, the Commonwealth of Australia has ordered 12 Evolved Cape-class patrol boats for the Royal Australian Navy, and Australian Border Force.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe addition of these thirteenth and fourteenth Evolved Capes reflects continued confidence in the platform\u2019s performance, Austal\u2019s proven reliability and the strength of Australia\u2019s sovereign shipbuilding capability,\u201d says the company;.<\/p>\n<p>The Evolved Cape-class patrol boat design features expanded accommodations for up to 32 personnel, enhanced quality-of-life systems and advanced sustainment technologies to maximise operational availability.
