At IMO, this is the year of implementation; moving from plans to concrete actions and measurable progress, reflected in our world maritime theme:\u202f\u201cFrom Policy to Practice \u2013 Powering Maritime Excellence.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSeafarers.\u202fNearly two\u202fmillion\u202fwork\u202fat sea.\u202fRecognizing that training needs to keep up with the new\u202frealities\u202fof the industry,\u202fwe will start\u202fa major update of the\u202fSTCW Convention\u202f\u2013 including emerging technologies, new fuels and changing requirements.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/MG9tWgQv1rU?si=KeRbhFVi1tcJJ_od\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>\u201cOn decarbonization, we are\u202fmoving\u202fahead with efforts to cut greenhouse gas emissions from the sector by or around 2050.
