Danish sustainable energy developer \u00d8rsted reports that U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia granted the preliminary injunction sought by Revolution Wind, LLC regarding the December 22, 2025 suspension order issued by the Department of the Interior\u2019s Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM).<\/p>\n<p>The <em>New York Times<\/em> reports that Judge Royston Lambert ruled that the Interior Department\u2019s suspension order was \u201carbitrary and capricious\u201d in violation of federal law. In its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2026\/01\/12\/climate\/judge-strikes-down-trumps-latest-effort-to-stop-offshore-wind.html\">report,<\/a> the newspaper adds that in his ruling Judge Lambert said that the Interior Department\u2019s Bureau of Ocean Energy Management did not adequately explain how the project posed security risks or why halting construction would address those concerns.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPurportedly new classified information does not constitute a sufficient explanation for the bureau\u2019s decision to entirely stop work on the Revolution Wind project,\u201d he said while ruling from the bench.<\/p>\n<p>The court\u2019s action will allow the Revolution Wind Project \u2014 a 50\/50 joint venture between Global Infrastructure Partners\u2019 Skyborn Renewables and \u00d8rsted\u2014 to restart impacted activities immediately while the underlying lawsuit challenging the August 22, 2025 and December 22, 2025 BOEM Director\u2019s orders progresses.
