ASAP will become the primary method for submitting applications to the National Maritime Center, with email and fax submissions expected to be phased out.

The rollout will require a transition period beginning January 23, during which portions of the system will be unavailable.

The National Maritime Center said the new portal is separate from the U.S. Coast Guard’s ongoing development of the Navita system and is intended as an interim effort to improve customer service until Navita becomes fully operational.

In addition to the new application portal, NMC will introduce a redesigned website featuring updated navigation, revised “How to Apply” guidance, and expanded access to credentialing information and customer support resources.

The center has released a step-by-step tutorial to help mariners prepare for the transition and encouraged users to review it ahead of the January 26 launch.

The National Maritime Center provides credentialing services for U.S. mariners and operates under the U.S. Coast Guard.
