David Carver named new chairman of SCA board

The Shipbuilders Council of America (SCA) has announced the new leadership of its board of directors. David Carver, <\/a>president of General Dynamics NASSCO, has moved up from vice chairman to chairman of the SCA board, succeeding Brad Moyer, vice president of business development and strategic planning at BAE Systems.<\/p>\n SCA notes that Carver has been a dedicated member of its board of Directors and that, with 38 years of shipbuilding and ship repair experience, he brings proven leadership to his new role. Succeeding him as vice chairman is Garrett Rice,<\/a> president of Master Boat Builders, who has served on the SCA board of since 2014,<\/p>\n \u201cAt this moment of renewed focus on America\u2019s maritime strength, our industry stands ready to meet the growing demand for ships that are critical to support our economy and national security,\u201d said Carver. \u201cWorking hand in hand with U.S. yards and our industrial base partners, we have an incredible opportunity to modernize our fleet, strengthen our workforce, and ensure that American shipbuilding continues to lead the world.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cThe Shipbuilders Council of America is the leading advocate for the shipbuilding and ship repair industry and the men and women who power it, from the largest builders to proven small and mid-sized yards,\u201d said Rice. \u201cI am honored to serve as vice chairman at a pivotal time.
