The ship, described only as \u201cflying the flag of a small Oceanian island,\u201d was carrying a cargo of 33,000 tons of ferrous metal.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Brindisi, Gdf sequestra nave: \u00abViolate sanzioni alla Russia\u00bb\" width=\"900\" height=\"506\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/aVoD3xBuJ-Q?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p>The precautionary seizure was made pursuant to EU Regulation 833\/2014, in compliance with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marinelog.com\/legal\/safety-and-security\/russian-classification-society-targeted-by-eu-sanctions\/\">sanctions <\/a>against the Russian Federation adopted following the Russian invasion of Ukraine.<\/p>\n<p>Media r<a href=\"https:\/\/united24media.com\/latest-news\/italy-intercepts-cargo-ship-with-russian-metal-in-sanctions-enforcement-move-15109\">eports<\/a> say that tracking data identify the vessel as likely the <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.emiroglushipping.com\/en\/hizir-reis\/\">Hizir Reis,<\/a><\/em> a Tuvalubulk carrier owned by Turkey\u2019s Emiroglu Shipping, and flying the flag of Tuvalu<\/p>\n<p>The Guardia di Finanza says that on the vessel\u2019s arrival at the Port of Brindisi, the import declaration was processed by the Customs Agency\u2019s analysis systems and that subsequent checks revealed serious inconsistencies, falsifications, and alterations to the on-board documentation relating to the locations of stops and loading operations of the goods.<\/p>\n<p>In particular, the inspection carried out by Guardia di Finanza officers on a series of the ship\u2019s documents, as well as the analysis of data extracted from the ship\u2019s ECDIS system allowed them to ascertain that the vessel was stationed and operating in the Port of Novorossiysk (a sanctioned port of the Russian Federation) from November 13 to 16, 2025, carrying out prohibited cargo loading operations.<\/p>\n<p>Following further inspections and analyses ct emerged that the vessel\u2019s AIS system ad been deactivated near the Port of Novorossiysk, presumably with the intent of evading geolocation and hindering the control activities of the competent authorities.<\/p>\n<p>Further evidence of this was provided by consulting the Lloyd\u2019s Global Maritime database used by the Customs Agency.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll the investigations carried out allowed us to reconstruct exactly the route and operations carried out by the vessel in violation of the Community Regulation on sanctions against the Russian Federation, despite the misleading statements of the Captain of the vessel and the attempts made to obstruct the facts by altering documents and turning off the transponder,\u201d says the Guardia di Finanzia, adding that \u201cthe importer, the shipowner, and several crew members are being investigated jointly for circumventing European Union restrictive measures.\u201d<br \/>,<\/p>\n<p>The post <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marinelog.com\/news\/video-italys-guardia-di-finanzia-detains-russian-linked-ship-in-brindisi\/\">VIDEO: Italy\u2019s Guardia di Finanzia detains Russian-linked ship in Brindisi<\/a> appeared first on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marinelog.com\/\">Marine Log<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p> \t<BR><br \/>\n <BR><\/BR><br \/>\n    Nick Blenkey<br \/>\n \t<BR><br \/>\n<BR><\/BR><br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.marinelog.com\/news\/video-italys-guardia-di-finanzia-detains-russian-linked-ship-in-brindisi\/?utm_source=rss&#038;utm_medium=rss&#038;utm_campaign=video-italys-guardia-di-finanzia-detains-russian-linked-ship-in-brindisi\">Go to marinelog<\/a><br \/>\n \t<BR><br \/>\n <BR><\/BR><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>VIDEO: Italy\u2019s Guardia di Finanzia detains Russian-linked ship in Brindisi Italy\u2019s Guardia di Finanza has detained a ship that arrived in Brindisi from Russian Black Sea waters and placed it under emergency precautionary seizure.
