BV\u2019s Alex Gregg-Smith elected next IACS council chair

The council of the International Association of Classification Societies<\/a> (IACS) has unanimously elected Alex Gregg-Smith, president, Marine & Offshore, Bureau Veritas,<\/a> to be its next chair. He will assume the role July 1 and his term of office will run until December 31, 2027.<\/p>\n \u201cThe maritime industry is at a crucial stage in its technical, digital and environmental evolution,\u201d said Gregg-Smith. \u201cThe role of IACS in ensuring these far-reaching changes are implemented at pace, uniformly and with safety at the core, is fundamental. I am honoured that the IACS council has elected me to oversee the association at this pivotal time.\u201d<\/p>\n Gregg-Smith has over twenty years\u2019 experience with Bureau Veritas, as well as extensive experience in leadership roles in both shipyards and shipowners.
