Brazil\u2019s Wilson Sons held a christeninhg ceremony for the tugboat WS Halcyon<\/em> in Rio Janeiro this Thursday, Jan 29. Built at the company\u2019s shipyard in Guaruj\u00e1 (S\u00e3o Paulo), WS Halcyon is the first of a new series of three high-powered tugs.<\/p>\n WS Halcyon<\/em> is a class 2312 tug <\/a>(23 meters long and 12 meters wide) with azimuth propulsion and 70 tons of bollard pull, it is capable of supporting the world\u2019s biggest ships on docking and undocking maneuvers in Brazil\u2019s main ports. It is also equipped with a FiFi 1 firefighting system with a capacity of 2,40,000 liters\/hour of water (FiFi 1).<\/p>\n Two more 2312 class tugboats are being built at the Wilson Sons shipyard, with delivery scheduled for mid-2026.
