Cargo Ship Runs Aground In Sweden Shortly After Leaving Port Of Varberg

A cargo ship named CL Flanders ran aground shortly after it departed from the Swedish Port of Varberg.<\/p>\n

The ship, said to be registered in Belgium, was on its way to Rochester, United Kingdom, with a cargo of timber when the incident occurred.<\/p>\n

It hit a pier on the Varberg\u2019s Getteron Peninsula around eight at night, local time on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

The ship had a 8 member crew, and everyone was reported to be safe. Nobody suffered any injuries, per medical examination.<\/p>\n

Fortunately, the incident did not lead to oil spills in the nearby waters, as shown by the site inspection report.<\/p>\n

The Swedish Coast Guard arrived at the scene and has begun an investigation to determine the cause of the grounding.<\/p>\n

Officials state that the cause was likely negligence; however, nothing can be confirmed as of now.<\/p>\n

The authorities are also planning how to refloat the ship safely.<\/p>\n

CL Flanders is a general cargo vessel constructed in 2024. It is owned by Conti-Lines Group, which is a shipping company based in Antwerp, Belgium.<\/p>\n

The ship has been sailing mainly on shortsea trade routes in Europe.<\/p>\n

It often carries timber between the port cities of the U.K and the Baltic.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
