MacGregor solutions selected for BC Ferries\u2019 NMV quartet

MacGregor is to supply cargo access solutions and deck machinery for the four new all-electric-ready hybrid-electric, double-ended passenger\/car ferries that will replace four end-of-life vessels, under BC Ferries\u2019 New Major Vessel (NMV) <\/a>program.<\/p>\n Designed in collaboration with Norway\u2019s LMG Marin to be able to carry up to 360 standard-sized vehicles and 2,100 passengers, the next-generation,vessels will be built at China Merchants Industry (CMI) Weihai Shipyard Co., Ltd.<\/a><\/p>\n The order was booked to MacGregor\u2019s first quarter 2026 orders received.<\/p>\n MacGregor says the order is the result of a collaborative approach with numerous project interest holders, ensuring the delivery of solutions that meet the specific requirements of the vessels and the customer. While MacGregor will provide the cargo access equipment along with a dedicated Integrated Logistic Support (ILS) package for the solution, a joint venture has secured the order for the deck machinery. The specialized cargo access equipment, deck machinery and the comprehensive ILS package from MacGregor will play an important role in enhancing fleet resiliency and schedule efficiency. The standardized design and long-term support across the four vessels will support streamlined operations for the crew and faster loading and unloading to meet increasing passenger demand.<\/p>\n The new 172-meter ships are designed for BC Ferries\u2019 busiest routes between Vancouver Island and the Lower Mainland in Canada.
