{"id":25657,"date":"2026-03-02T04:02:09","date_gmt":"2026-03-02T04:02:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/krogragg.com\/?p=25657"},"modified":"2026-03-02T04:02:09","modified_gmt":"2026-03-02T04:02:09","slug":"second-launch-in-series-delivered-to-houston-pilots-association","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/krogragg.com\/?p=25657","title":{"rendered":"Second launch in series delivered to Houston Pilots Association"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>    Second launch in series delivered to Houston Pilots Association<br \/>\n \t<BR><br \/>\n<BR><\/BR><br \/>\n    <!-- no image --><br \/>\n \t<BR><br \/>\n<BR><\/BR><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Louisiana boatbuilder Breaux\u2019s Bay Craft has delivered a new 80- by 21-foot (24- by 6.4-metre) custom aluminium pilot boat to the Houston Pilots Association (HPA) of Texas.<\/p>\n<p><em>Juan Seguin<\/em> is the second boat in a series built by Breaux&#8217;s Bay Craft for the HPA. <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bairdmaritime.com\/work-boat-world\/pilotage\/vessel-review-san-jacinto-new-pilot-boat-for-operation-in-houston-ship-channel\">San Jacinto<\/a><\/em>, the first unit, entered operational service along the Houston Ship Channel in May 2025.<\/p>\n<p>The ECS Marine-designed newbuild has an inverted deep V-bottom hull and is powered by three MAN D2862 LE 438 1,200hp (890kW) diesel driving Hamilton HTX47 waterjets.<\/p>\n<p>The propulsion package gives the vessel a top speed of 37.5 knots and a cruising speed of 32.5 knots, which satisfies the HPA\u2019s requirement for a boat that could cover the 10- to 12-mile (16- to 19-kilometre) distance to the association\u2019s bar vessel in less than an hour.<\/p>\n<p><em>Juan Seguin<\/em> is equipped with two Northern Lights 38kW generators, a Seakeeper 40 stabilisation system, HamiltonJet\u2019s AVX controls, and a fixed CO<sub>2<\/sub> firefighting system in the engine room. The latter includes CO<sub>2<\/sub> bottles with automatic engine shutdown and vent closure functions, though a manual pull feature is also available.<\/p>\n<p>The coxswain\u2019s seat has a joystick installed on the left armrest.
