Vietnam Builds Its Largest Bulk Carrier Ready To Sail From Hai Phong

Vietnam has built its biggest dry bulk carrier, the 65,000 DWT Truong Minh Dream which will be operating from the port city of Hai Phong.<\/p>\n

This is a major advancement in line with the government\u2019s plans to expand shipping to support the country\u2019s maritime sector.<\/p>\n

The 200 m long ship is classed by Japan\u2019s ClassNK and meets international standards. It can also operate anywhere in the world.<\/p>\n

Designed jointly by Vietnam Shipbuilding Engineering JSC (VISEC) and Bluetech Finland, the ship is double-bottomed and has a single propellor and 5 cargo holds.<\/p>\n

It also has 4 cranes with a lifting capacity of 30 tons and is larger than other bulk carriers built in the country. Its main engine is from MAN and was built in Japan.<\/p>\n

The ship was constructed by the Nam Trieu Shipbuilding Company, a subsidiary of the Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (SBIC).<\/p>\n

The ship was launched on May 11 and it completed sea trials on December 4, 2024.<\/p>\n

The bulker was handed over to Dong Bac Shipbuilding Industry JSC, which will handle its operations, on December 26.<\/p>\n

The company had ordered 2 bulkers, with work commencing on the second one after the launch of Truong Minh Dream in May.<\/p>\n
