The Port of Tanjung Pelepas (PTP), Malaysia\u2019s largest transhipment hub, has made history by handling 12,253,309 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) in 2024.<\/p>\n

This makes it the first container terminal in Malaysia to surpass the 12 million TEUs mark in a single year, breaking its previous record of 11.2 million TEUs set in 2021.<\/p>\n

The historic 12 millionth TEU<\/a> was recorded at 7:00 pm on December 23, 2024. The achievement solidifies its position as one of the world\u2019s busiest and most efficient container terminals.<\/p>\n

PTP Chairman Tan Sri Che Khalib Mohamad Noh said that the port has overcome challenges and maintained high operational standards.<\/p>\n

While PTP\u2019s Chief Executive Officer Mark Hardiman highlighted the stability and productivity of the port despite handling high volumes. He added that the team worked hard to ensure no congestion and maintained reliable services for customers.<\/p>\n
