{"id":3134,"date":"2025-01-10T20:04:35","date_gmt":"2025-01-10T20:04:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/krogragg.com\/?p=3134"},"modified":"2025-01-10T20:04:35","modified_gmt":"2025-01-10T20:04:35","slug":"uscg-responds-to-algoma-verity-grounding-near-philadelphia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/krogragg.com\/?p=3134","title":{"rendered":"USCG responds to Algoma Verity grounding near Philadelphia"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>    USCG responds to Algoma Verity grounding near Philadelphia<br \/>\n \t<BR><br \/>\n<BR><\/BR><br \/>\n    <!-- no image --><br \/>\n \t<BR><br \/>\n<BR><\/BR><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>The U.S. Coast Guard and partners have been responding to the grounding of the 623-foot, Bahamas-flagged <a href=\"https:\/\/www.news.uscg.mil\/Press-Releases\/Article\/4025062\/coast-guard-partners-responding-to-aground-cargo-ship-in-philadelphia\/\">self-unloading bulk carrier<\/a> <em>Algoma Verity<\/em>. <\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed alignleft is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">A massive cargo ship is stuck in the Delaware River, the coast guard says <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/YSpAPTFF87\">https:\/\/t.co\/YSpAPTFF87<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Philly Daily News (@PhillyDailyNews) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/PhillyDailyNews\/status\/1877662320429535446?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">January 10, 2025<\/a>\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p>At 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.news.uscg.mil\/Press-Releases\/Article\/4025062\/coast-guard-partners-responding-to-aground-cargo-ship-in-philadelphia\/\">Coast Guard Sector Delaware Bay <\/a>watchstanders received a report from the pilot aboard the ship stating the vessel had run aground with no injuries in the Delaware River.<\/p>\n<p>The <em>Algoma Verity<\/em> was northbound with a cargo of approximately 45,000 tons of solar salt when the incident occurred.<\/p>\n<p>Watchstanders issued an Urgent Marine Information Broadcast notice to mariners and deployed a Station Philadelphia 29-foot Response Boat-Small crew to the area.<\/p>\n<p>The vessel grounded approximately a mile north of the Benjamin Franklin Bridge in the Delaware River, Wednesday night.As of 8 a.m., Thursday, the A<em>lgoma Verity<\/em> was aground outside the main shipping channel.
