Italy\u2019s coast guard has lifted the sunken superyacht Atina from the seabed off Sardinia\u2019s coast and plans to move it to Piombino for scrapping.<\/p>\n

The recovery ends a months-long operation that began in August after a fire sank the luxury yacht near Olbia, a popular resort on Sardinia\u2019s northeastern shore.<\/p>\n

The 154-foot Atina caught fire on August 10, necessitating an immediate evacuation. All 16 passengers and crew made it to the shore safely and without injuries.<\/p>\n

According to local media, the passengers included Turkish nationals along with Atina\u2019s suspected owner, Serkan Borancili, the Turkish founder of a well-known delivery company.<\/p>\n
