The impact left a large gash on <em>50 Let Pobedy&#8217;s<\/em> port bow, above the waterline.\u00a0<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-media-max-width=\"560\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Russian media report that a Russian icebreaker 50 Years of Victory has collided with a dry cargo ship in the Kara Sea on January 26.<\/p>\n<p>The icebreaker suffered damage to the left side hull, Russian media reported but promised everything was fine. Seaworthiness has not been lost. There is no threat to the life support systems or the reactor installation,&#8221; state atomic agency Atomflot said in a statement, adding that <em>50 Let Pobedy<\/em> continues to operate as normal.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The location and the identity of the other vessel were not specified.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><em>50 Let Pobedy <\/em>is one of six first-generation Arktika-class icebreakers designed in\u00a0the closing days of the Soviet Union. She was launched in 1993, but lay incomplete for 10 years during Russia&#8217;s chaotic transition to a market economy, and was only finished in 2007.
