{"id":6685,"date":"2025-03-26T20:08:18","date_gmt":"2025-03-26T20:08:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/krogragg.com\/?p=6685"},"modified":"2025-03-26T20:08:18","modified_gmt":"2025-03-26T20:08:18","slug":"ingalls-launches-the-future-uss-jeremiah-denton","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/krogragg.com\/?p=6685","title":{"rendered":"Ingalls launches the future USS Jeremiah Denton"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>    Ingalls launches the future USS Jeremiah Denton<br \/>\n \t<BR><br \/>\n<BR><\/BR><br \/>\n    <!-- no image --><br \/>\n \t<BR><br \/>\n<BR><\/BR><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>HII\u2019s (NYSE: HII) <a href=\"https:\/\/hii.com\/what-we-do\/divisions\/ingalls-shipbuilding\/\">Ingalls Shipbuilding division<\/a> in Pascagoula, Miss.., has successfully launched future USS <em>Jeremiah Denton<\/em> (DDG 129), the third Flight III Arleigh Burke-class destroyer to be built at the shipyard.<\/p>\n<p>DDG 129 is named for former U.S. Sen. Jeremiah Denton Jr., a Vietnam War veteran who was awarded the Navy Cross for his heroism as a prisoner of war. Following his Navy career, he was elected to the U.S. Senate, representing his home state of Alabama, in 1980.,<\/p>\n<p>Shipbuilders transferred DDG 129 from land to the company\u2019s dry dock using translation railcars to support the ship during the move. Once in the dry dock, the ship was floated and moved by tugboats to a pier at the shipyard.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe launch of DDG 129 is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our Ingalls shipbuilders and a collaborative achievement with our Navy partners,\u201d Ingalls Shipbuilding DDG program manager Ben Barnett said. \u201cThe future USS <em>Jeremiah Denton<\/em> will now undergo final outfitting, systems activation, and testing before entering the fleet.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>An <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marinelog.com\/?s=Flight+III+Arleigh+Bur\">Arleigh Burke-class Flight III destroye<\/a>r features the AN\/SPY-6(V)1 Air and Missile Defense Radar (AMDR) and the Aegis Baseline 10 Combat System that is required to keep pace with the threats well into the 21st century. Ingalls Shipbuilding has five Flight IIIs currently under construction including <em>Ted Stevens<\/em> (DDG 128), J<em>eremiah Denton<\/em> (DDG 129),<em> George M.
