Image Credits: Wikipedia<\/figcaption><\/figure>\nMundra Port in Gujarat, operated by Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (APSEZ), has become the first Indian port to handle over 200 million metric tonnes (MMT) of cargo in a single financial year.<\/p>\n
According to the company\u2019s official update, the flagship port managed 200.7 MMT of cargo during the financial year 2024-25 (FY25).<\/p>\n
Overall, APSEZ ports handled a total of 450.2 MMT cargo during the year, showing a 7% growth over the previous fiscal.<\/p>\n
This growth was mainly driven by a 20% jump in container volumes and a 9% increase in liquid and gas cargo.<\/p>\n
The company said that March 2025 marked its highest-ever monthly cargo volume at 41.5 MMT, up 9% year-on-year.<\/p>\n
Containers saw a 19% rise, while liquid and gas volumes increased by 5% during the month.<\/p>\n
Mundra\u2019s impressive numbers were backed by strong performances across various terminals.<\/p>\n
The Adani International Container Terminal handled a record 33.05 lakh containers, outperforming the previous year\u2019s record of 31.49 lakh.<\/p>\n
The Liquid Terminal recorded its best performance in over a decade, handling 8.73 MMT of cargo-the highest since FY 2010-11.<\/p>\n
Rail connectivity played an important role in supporting Mundra\u2019s performance. Mundra Port Railway Services exceeded its past record by operating 20,578 trains, up from 20,149.<\/p>\n
The West Basin at the port handled 3.76 MMT in March alone, setting the highest monthly cargo figure for the fiscal year.<\/p>\n
In the same month, it dispatched 59 rakes, surpassing its previous best of 52 rakes in September 2024.<\/p>\n
The port achieved a record with the quickest discharge of pet coke from MV AMIS RESPECT, unloading 60,489.4 MT in just 17 hours.<\/p>\n
The Vizhinjam Port, also operated by APSEZ, achieved a milestone by crossing 1,00,000 TEUs in March 2025.<\/p>\n
