It was developed through a partnership between Shanghai Merchant Ship Design &amp; Research Institute (SDARI) and New Yangzi Shipbuilding, with classification and certification handled by Lloyd\u2019s Register (LR).<\/p>\n<p>Although its official capacity is 8,200 TEUs, the vessel can accommodate up to 8,350 TEUs. With a total length of 260 meters, the ship is built to operate efficiently on both regional feeder routes and deep-sea shipping lanes, offering flexibility across trade routes.<\/p>\n<p>One of the ship\u2019s standout features is its use of GTT MARK III membrane tank technology. This is the first time a private Chinese shipyard has partnered with French containment technology expert GTT on a project of this kind.<\/p>\n<p>The KOTA OASIS is also ammonia-ready, with its fuel tanks certified under LR\u2019s ammonia-ready class notation. This makes the vessel capable of converting to ammonia fuel in the future, helping shipowners prepare for stricter environmental rules.<\/p>\n<p>For propulsion, the vessel uses a W\u00e4rtsil\u00e4-supplied LNG fuel system. This dual-fuel setup significantly cuts down emissions, carbon dioxide by 20%, nitrogen oxides (NOx) by 85%, and sulfur oxides (SOx) by 99%.<\/p>\n<p>The ship\u2019s energy performance meets the IMO Tier III standards through its Energy Efficiency Design Index (EEDI) compliance. Another technological highlight onboard is an intelligent energy management system.<\/p>\n<p>The main engine features an iCER (Intelligent Control by Exhaust Recycling) system designed to reduce methane slip, while onboard generators are equipped with Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) systems. These systems help ensure full compliance with IMO Tier III NOx limits.<\/p>\n<p>During the naming ceremony held on April 25, Sau Weng Tang, President of LR for Greater China, highlighted the ship\u2019s role in promoting greener shipping.<\/p>\n<p>According to LR, the KOTA OASIS is a major achievement in the journey toward low-carbon shipping.
