{"id":9680,"date":"2025-05-16T20:03:11","date_gmt":"2025-05-16T20:03:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/krogragg.com\/?p=9680"},"modified":"2025-05-16T20:03:11","modified_gmt":"2025-05-16T20:03:11","slug":"hd-hyundais-chung-kisun-in-talks-with-ustr-jamieson-greer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/krogragg.com\/?p=9680","title":{"rendered":"HD Hyundai\u2019s Chung Kisun in talks with USTR Jamieson Greer"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>    HD Hyundai\u2019s Chung Kisun in talks with USTR Jamieson Greer<br \/>\n \t<BR><br \/>\n<BR><\/BR><br \/>\n    <!-- no image --><br \/>\n \t<BR><br \/>\n<BR><\/BR><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>As plans for a renaissance in U.S. shipbuilding develop, South Korea\u2019s HD Hyundai , which has already started to c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.marinelog.com\/news\/hii-in-mou-with-hd-hyundai\/\">ooperate with Huntington Ingalls (HII<\/a>) is looking to play a role.<\/p>\n<p>Today HD Hyundai\u2019s executive vice chairman Chung Kisun met with U.S. Trade Representative Ambassador Jamieson Greer for official talks to discuss the need for stronger Korea-U.S. cooperation in shipbuilding \u2014 with HD Hyundai also proposing collaboration on port crane manufacturing.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed alignleft is-type-wp-embed is-provider-marine-log wp-block-embed-marine-log\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"wp-embedded-content\" data-secret=\"shEeU1HNND\"><p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.marinelog.com\/legal\/regulations\/ustr-reveals-fee-scales-timing-for-section-301-action-on-china\/\">USTR reveals fee scales, timing for Section 301 action on China<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-embedded-content\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts\" security=\"restricted\" title=\"\u201cUSTR reveals fee scales, timing for Section 301 action on China\u201d \u2014 Marine Log\" src=\"https:\/\/www.marinelog.com\/legal\/regulations\/ustr-reveals-fee-scales-timing-for-section-301-action-on-china\/embed\/#?secret=Vq5o4eAORl#?secret=shEeU1HNND\" data-secret=\"shEeU1HNND\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe>\n<\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p>Last month Ambassador Greer announced details of the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.marinelog.com\/legal\/regulations\/ustr-reveals-fee-scales-timing-for-section-301-action-on-china\/\"> Section 301 targeted action<\/a> that is being taken to restore American shipbuilding and address China\u2019s unreasonable acts, policies, and practices to dominate the maritime, logistics, and shipbuilding sectors.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In addition to the much publicized port visit charges to be imposed on Chinese-owned and Chinese-built ships, they include tariffs on Chinese-built ship-to-shore cranes and other cargo handling equipment, in line with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marinelog.com\/news\/industry-applauds-wide-ranging-trump-executive-order-on-maritime\/\">President Trump\u2019s Maritime Executive Order.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>During the meeting with Ambassador Greer, Chung discussed HD Hyundai\u2019s ongoing collaboration with HII and proposed concrete areas of cooperation, including joint technology development, shipbuilding cooperation, and skilled workforce training programs. He emphasized the growing need for closer industrial cooperation between the two nations.<\/p>\n<p>Chung also introduced HD Hyundai\u2019s affiliate, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hshi.co.kr\/eng\/\">HD Hyundai Samho, <\/a>and its crane manufacturing capabilities while addressing port cranes for the U.S. market.
